General Health
Wellbeing relates to how we feel physically, intellectually, socially, spiritually and emotionally.
Physical Health
Some aspects of maintaining good health and wellbeing are within your control. But there are also many factors that you cannot influence. These include family and genetic history as well as the natural process of ageing. However steps such as regular exercise and following a balanced and varied eating plan can help maintain a healthy body weight, good heart and digestive health, strong muscles and bones plus help maintain healthy blood glucose levels. 1, 2
Emotional Health
Stress has a direct impact on our emotional health. Not all stress is necessarily bad. For example that caused by exams or important work goals can help us stay motivated and result in a sense of achievement. The key is how much stress we feel, how often and how we manage it. To be emotionally healthy, it’s important to try and limit negative stress and find ways to offset this by relaxing regularly.
Intellectual Health
An active mind is essential to overall wellbeing. Being open to new ideas, thinking critically, being both creative and curious as well as being motivated to master new skills are vital to intellectual wellbeing.
Social Health
Having support networks, participating and contributing to the community, developing the capacity for intimacy and learning good communication skills all contribute to a positive state of social wellbeing. Food is a part of our social lives. Many of our food choices are influenced by the attitudes and habits of people we socialise or live with.
Spiritual Health
Spirituality is intensely individual – something we express in a range of beliefs and practices. Finding meaning and purpose to life is the basis of spiritual wellbeing.
To maintain your health and wellbeing, try to do the following every day:

• Be active in as many ways as you can
• Introduce Bürgen® bread into your daily eating plan! Bürgen® bread daily provides nutrients and other beneficial vitamins and minerals that may help contribute towards your general wellbeing.
